arsenal v blackburn

yesterday i was at the emirates stadium for arsenal v blackburn.

here are a few of my snapshots.

1
the walrus was in good voice.

2
i asked gooner jeff for a prediction. he went for 5-1 to arsenal.
little did he imagine that arsenal would knock in seven ( count 'em ) goals.

3
i like this photo a lot.
proper old school celebration as van persie opened the scoring...
the bloke just whupped his scarf off and started swinging it above his head.
"1-0 to the arsenal" was the somewhat predictable chant which accompanied it.

4
a shadow of his former self, thierry henry became so exhausted while he
was warming up that he had to take a breather and lean on the corner flag.

5
arteta scores a decent goal

6
arteta celebrates his decent goal with a big german and harry potter

7
the ox ( far right ) scores his second goal of the game

8
the ox celebrated by doing a strange little dance near the corner flag.
i think little theo is running over to him to ask him to stop.

9
thierry henry showed some front by celebrating the 7th goal as if he'd scored
a blinder. i'm pretty sure his lame-ass shot was going wide but it took a massive
deflection off a blackburn player and against the run of play ( seriously ) it was 7-1

10
german international defender and all round waste of money per mertesacker is
always the last player to leave the field. i like that he applauds the fans who have
been giving him grief for the past 90 minutes... that's a nice touch.

well, i'd like to think he stays on for this reason but in reality i think he just
can't keep up with the other players who run off the pitch.

fair play to him, he is the slowest professional footballer i have ever seen.
also for a big man he is also absolutely useless at set-pieces.
( gooner jeff remarked that when mertesacker jumps he actually gets shorter )

anyway, it was a great day at the emirates... 8 goals, a red card.

that's entertainment.
